Bermudians urged to apply for British passports for urgent travel

Following a recent cyberattack, the Bermuda government is urging citizens to apply for a British passport to avoid delays if they need to travel urgently.

The expected wait time is up to 20 weeks.

The attack has crippled the government's computer systems but the Department of Immigration has resumed processing passport applications in efforts to clear the backlog.

Last week, Premier David Burt said an investigation into the cyber attack had found circumstantial evidence that personal data may have been exfiltrated.
