Body of drowned student found

The body of a 14-year-old student of Wolmer's Boy's School who drowned on National Heroes Day at the Hellshire Beach in St. Catherine has been found.

Deputy Superintendent of the Marine Police, Oral Harrison, told the RJR News Centre that the body was discovered by fishermen.

"The body was found by fishermen in the same general area the JDF Marine Police carried out a search earlier. The body was found floating and was handed over to relatives," said DSP Harrison.

"I would like to make a general appeal to swimmers and non-swimmers...be careful how far out you go whether you are a strong swimmer or not," he continued.

14-year-old Jameel Hamilton went to the beach with friends shortly after 8 o'clock on Monday morning.

The teenager decided to go for a swim with two of his friends.

They reportedly got into difficulty.

Persons went to their assistance and managed to rescue two of the youths.  However, Jameel was not found.
