The British national who was caught trying to smuggle 1.6 kilogrammes of cocaine out of the island last month, has been fined $1.2 million.
Twenty-five-year-old Faina Rwenhamo was charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in, attempting to export, and conspiracy to export cocaine after the drugs was seized at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James.
It's reported that Rwenhamo attempted to board a flight destined for the United Kingdom when her luggage was searched.
During the search, the cocaine was found concealed in false compartments inside wooden craft items.
The drug reportedly has a street value of $7.5 million.
Following a plea in mitigation by her attorney Henry McCurdy on Wednesday, Rwenhamo was fined $400,000 on each charge except conspiracy.
If the fines are not paid, she's to serve three months in prison.
