Canadian girl dies in car crash in St. James

A five year-old Canadian girl died in a motor vehicle crash along the King Gate main road in St. James on Thursday.
 
She has been identified as Aaliyah Lowen of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
 
Her 31 year-old mother, who was seriously injured in the crash, has been admitted to hospital.
 
It's reported that shortly after 5 p.m., Aaliyah and her mother, who arrived in the island to attend a funeral, were picked up at Sangster International Airport by a relative.
 
The vehicle was travelling along the King Gate main road when the driver reportedly fell asleep.
 
The vehicle later overturned.
 
The five year-old and her mother were thrown from the vehicle into a ditch.
 
Aaliyah later died.
