CARICOM to discuss economic impact of COVID-19 this Thursday

CARICOM leaders will meet on Thursday to discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on regional economies.

The meeting will be held virtually under the chairmanship of Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

Officials of the Caribbean Public Health Agency and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, which have been spearheading the region's response to the global pandemic, will make presentations to the leaders.

The 15-members of CARICOM have recorded more than 950 deaths and over 42 thousand positive cases.

The tourism sector, which has been hard hit by the pandemic, will also be a major talking point during the deliberations.
