XLCR reach Manning Cup semis after 19 year hiatus

Former champions Excelsior High booked the last semi-final spot in this season's ISSA Manning Cup after turning back Charlie Smith 1-0 at Winchester Park on Saturday.

The spot was up for grabs between the two teams, but Charlie Smith made their assignment difficult after being reduced to 10 players with the expulsion of Devonte Wilson in stoppage time.

Excelsior then made the man advantage count as five minutes later, they scored the decisive goal through Kivann Salmon, ending their semi-final hiatus, a journey they haven't taken since 2006.

Meanwhile, Jamaica College topped the zone after a comprehensive 5-0 win over Hydel High to finish on maximum 9 points. JC will play STATHS in the semi-finals, while Excelsior go up against Eltham High.
