The case involving a St. Catherine man accused of shooting a 13-year-old girl on New Year's Day, during a reported gun salute, has been transferred to the Gun Court.
Aaron Ornaldo Esty, a 37-year-old mason of Braeton, Portmore, also known as 'Cone Head', appeared in the St. Catherine Parish Court on Friday.
Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson Gayle ordered that he be reminded to appear in the Gun Court on February 6.
It alleged that the girl was watching fireworks at her home on Dreamland Drive in Greater Portmore on January 1, when an explosion was heard.
She was discovered with what appeared to be a bullet wound to the lower body.
During a search of Esty's bedroom on January 6, police reportedly found a .45 Colt pistol with one round of ammunition.
He was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and wounding with intent.
