Category 4 Hurricane Delta the strongest ever Greek named storm

Hurricane Delta remains a Category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds of 140 miles per hour.

It is the strongest storm ever named after a letter in the Greek alphabet.

Delta remains on track to strike the northeastern Yucatan Peninsula and then the U.S. Gulf Coast later this week.

Delta, the earliest 25th-named storm ever to form, has undergone rapid intensification.

It was a tropical storm roughly 36 hours ago.

In Jamaica, heavy rains from Hurricane Delta earlier on Tuesday left a number of roads flooded or impassable, including Marcus Garvey Drive in the vicinity of the Tinson Pen aerodrome.

Roads in St. Thomas were impassable and some thoroughfares in that parish were damaged.
