Celebration at Foga High

As Kingston College and Manchester's Holmwood High revel in last weekend's Grace/ISSA Boys and Girls Championships, a Clarendon based school is celebrating its first medal.

The 14-month old Foga High School is basking in glory after one of its own struck gold at the meet held at the National Stadium.

RJR News visited Denbigh Monday morning to witness the celebrations and was just in time to witness the hero's welcome for 14-year old Kevaughn Robinson, who finished ahead of the field on Saturday in the Class Three 800 metres.

As he entered the school, Kevaughn was hugged and cheered by staff members and students.

Several lined up beside their star to pose for pictures with him.

School Principal Karence Campbell said the celebrations will be long.

And school coach, Milton Sargent said Kevaughn's ability was discovered while he was playing football.

Kevaughn, who is described by his principal, as being very shy, says his main objective was to put his school on the map.

Foga High is just over 14-months old and finished 20th of the just over 100 schools which participated at the prestigious event.
