A 32-year-old man was killed in a reported confrontation with the police in St. Catherine South on the weekend.
The deceased has been identified as Oshane Wheatley, otherwise called a 'Chip Chop', of Red Ground district, Old Harbour.
Investigators say a police team conducted an operation in the community of Red Ground.
During the operation, Wheatley was shot and a firearm reportedly seized.
Since the start of the year, 141 people have been fatally shot by members of the security forces.
