Children who drowned in river identified

The police have released the names of two of the three teens who drowned in the Duhaney River in St. Andrew Saturday afternoon.

Thirteen year olds Shaquille Henry and Damone Barrett of Olive Road in Tower Hill, Olympic Gardens and another boy who has not yet been identified, drowned when they went for a swim in the Duhaney River which runs behind the Riverton City Landfill.

Shaquille would have turned 14 on Sunday.

The three were among five boys who went swimming in the river about 2pm.

The police say one of them got into difficulty and two of his friends jumped into the river to try and save him, but they also got into difficulty and all three drowned.
