By Racquel Porter
Orville Mitchell, one of three men who were electrocuted in Banks, Race Course, Clarendon, earlier this month, has died.
Mr. Mitchell was driving his motorbike when a utility pole fell on him, causing him to lose his fingers at the scene.
The 51-year-old barber was hospitalised where he died Tuesday while being treated.
His son, Patrick Mitchell, who has been calling for accountability since the incident, told Radio Jamaica News the family has been left devastated.
"It break wi dung bad enuh," he lamented, adding that his father "couldn't hold it no more".
"Him fight it till him couldn't fight no more, yuh know. We deh here have it rough, rough; barely can manage, but we have fi keep up 'cause anything happen a God work, so we haffi just hold on and try fi fight," said the distraught son.
Two other men who attempted to assist Mr. Mitchell were also electrocuted but not critically injured.
Last Friday, Patrick Mitchell expressed grave disappointment that the Jamaica Public Service was yet to reach out to his family almost a week after it said it was probing the circumstances surrounding the electrocution of his father.
But on Wednesday afternoon, he told Radio Jamaica News that his attorney is in dialogue with JPS.
