Clash over stop order issued to operators of the Dovecot cemetery

Chairman of the St Catherine Municipal Corporation Norman Scott had a strong disagreement with councillor for the Red Hills Division Keith McCook over a stop order issued to operators of the Dovecot cemetery.

Councillor McCook stated that, despite the stop order, burials were still being done, raising questions about the integrity of the aquifers and wells in the area.

Mayor Scott, in response, clarified that the stop order was in relation to a section of the land which was zoned for residential use.

The matter has been referred to the Planning Committee of the St Catherine Municipal Corporation for further deliberation.
