Clive Mullings reacts to reports of tax delinquency

Clive Mullings, talk show host, attorney and former government minister, has reacted to recent news that he has been hauled before the courts for tax delinquency.

Mullings who is a host of RJR's  call in programme Hot Line  said that the matter will be dealt with through the courts and that he will therefore not go into the details of the case.

“It is now public knowledge that there is an issue before the courts that I have with the tax authorities. Not many people realize that  you can be assessed and you  have the right to object to that assessment. I  thought it prudent for me to outline  that this is a matter before the courts, when a matter is before the court, I do not comment on it.”

He added that he will refrain from using his influence as a talk show host to sway the case in any way.

More than 450 delinquent taxpayers were hauled before the Courts between March and May 2013 by Tax Administration Jamaica.  The list of delinquent tax payers and the combined amounts owed to seven Revenue Service Centres was published in Monday’s edition of The Gleaner newspaper.
