President of the Jamaica Used Car Dealers Association Lynvalle Hamilton says he will be writing to Transport Minister Daryl Vaz to inform him that the Association needs to be consulted ahead of changes to laws governing the use of demonstration plates.
He says he will also be asking for evidence that demonstration plates are being abused by members of the Association.
Demonstration plates are used to move cars from the port of entry to car lots or when cars are being test driven.
Mr Hamilton says dealers have to buy these plates from Tax Administration Jamaica, and as a result, he finds it curious that the agency says it does not know how many of them are in the country.
