Constable found guilty of murder of girlfriend

Constable Lescene Edwards has been found guilty of the murder of his girlfriend, Aldonna Harris-Vasquez.

After three hours of deliberations, the jury on Thursday afternoon returned a guilty verdict. Twenty-five witnesses testified during the six-week trial in the Home Circuit Court.

Edwards was charged by the Major Investigation Taskforce (MIT) following a probe into the September 2003 death of Mrs. Harris-Vasquez, from a gunshot wound at her Pembrook Hall residence in St. Andrew.
The policeman said he found his girlfriend dead in the bathroom, with his service pistol beside her. He claimed that she left behind a suicide note.
