Cop charged with murder of girlfriend in St. Mary

 
Detectives assigned to the Port Maria Criminal Investigations branch have charged 22-year-old Constable Patrick Walters with the murder of his 20-year-old girlfriend, D'Johnnay Graham.
 
He was charged on Monday following an investigation on into the fatal shooting and attempted suicide on June 25 at Graham's home in Richmond, St. Mary. 
 
It was reported that about 9:15 p.m., Ms. Graham and Constable Walters had a dispute during which she was shot. 
 
The police were summoned and, on their arrival, both Graham and Walters were found with gunshot wounds. They were taken to hospital where Graham was pronounced dead and Walters hospitalised. 
 
A file on the matter was prepared and submitted to the director of public prosecutions for ruling. The DPP ruled on July 17 that Walters be charged with the offences of murder and using a firearm to commit a felony.
 
Walters was recently released from the hospital in the custody of the police.
