Jamaica begins administering the covid-19 vaccine today (Wednesday) as the country marks exactly one year since recording its first case of the virus.
The health authorities have scheduled 3,280 people to be vaccinated on the first day. This initial group includes 1,930 healthcare workers.
The Nurses Association of Jamaica confirmed to Radio Jamaica News that a number of its members will be vaccinated today.
The Ministry of Health & Wellness expects that in the first week more than 17,000 healthcare workers will be vaccinated.
On Monday Jamaica received 50,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from the Indian Government.
