The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) is reporting that it has located the girl who was seen being physically abused by her mother in a now viral video.
CPFSA says the child, who is 15 years old, is in the care of her father.
Chief Executive Officer of the CPFSA Laurette Adams-Thomas says the child is receiving medical attention at hospital.
"We will continue to follow up with the child to offer psychological, psychosocial and any other forms of necessary intervention that she will need. The police have been made aware of the case and we expect that they will take the appropriate action," she said.
In the 14-second video, the child is seen on the floor while the woman proceeds to kick and stomp on her head and neck.
On Thursday morning CPFSA said it had been working with the police to locate both the girl and the woman.
Mrs. Adams-Thomas is encouraging people to report cases and suspected cases of child abuse using the 24-hour reporting hotline, 211.
Child abuse reports may also be made through WhatsApp or text at 876-878-2882, CPFSA's social media pages, email or by visiting any CPFSA parish office.
