Residents of Danvers Pen in St. Thomas are now marooned after heavy rain destroyed the main road leading to the community.
Since Sunday the area has been inaccessible due to a major breakaway.
The residents are appealing to the National Works Agency (NWA) to carryout urgent repairs.
NWA Spokesman, Stephen Shaw, says a team will be dispatched Monday to assess the damage.
However, he says it could take a while before repairs can begin.
“We'll be sending a team there to look at the situation to see what can be done by way of heavy equipment if anything because sometimes the material is so soft we have to wait for a period of sunshine for the material to become a little hard so that it can be removed with the assistance of heavy units so we’ll have to first assess what the situation is,” Mr. Shaw said.
Meanwhile, the Police are advising motorists that the Bowden and Hordley Crossings; in the vicinity of Golden Grove, St. Thomas are impassible at this time due to flood waters.
Motorists should avoid travelling through these areas until further notice.
