Dr. Wykeham McNeill confirmed to represent PNP in Northern Trelawny

 

Former Member of Parliament for Western Westmoreland Dr. Wykeham McNeill has been officially confirmed as the People's National Party's standard-bearer in Northern Trelawny for the general elections.

 

Mr. McNeill replaces Dennis Meadows who was removed as caretaker following comments earlier this year, purportedly in support of scamming, while on the campaign trail.

 

PNP General Secretary Dr. Dayton Campbell encouraged support for Dr. McNeill at a Northern Trelawny conference on Sunday night while taking a jab at Prime Minister Andrew Holness. 

 

"When the Prime Minister, who has all of 49 MPs, but when him want a new Minister of Government, him cyah call fi di MP from North Trelawny fi tun a Minister of Government, him haffi force out somebody out a di Senate and bring in a new senator fi turn minister. North Trelawny annuh backa bush constituency and annuh backbench constituency.... So when we support Comrade Peter Bunting, Dr. Wykeham McNeill, we nah support nuh backbencher, we are supporting a future Minister of Government," he declared. 

 

Dr. McNeill, who was five-term MP in Westmoreland Western, lost the seat to the Jamaica Labour Party's Morland Wilson in the last general election in 2020.
