Education Minister intervenes in Cambridge High school controversy

The Education Ministry has intervened in the controversy at the Cambridge High School in St James, over the barring of  a student from graduation because of  her braids.

State Minister in the Education Ministry, Floyd Green, told RJR News that the Ministry has been formally notified, and has started an investigation.

Our news centre reported that the family of  the student is livid because she was denied a chance to graduate.

It's reported that she has been treated for cancer and some of  her hair has fallen out, and for that reason she wore braids, which are said to be against school policy.

The school barred her from being the valedictorian and graduating.

According to Green the investigative process should be completed shortly.

Meanwhile, despite the increasing anger at Cambridge High, he says the Ministry is not yet prepared to state a position as  more information is needed.
