The Westmoreland police are investigating the rape of an elderly woman in Hopewell, Darliston on the weekend.
They are trying to identify a suspect.
The incident is said to have occurred between 10:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:0: a.m. Sunday.
It's reported that the 91-year-old victim was alone at home when she was awakened by strange sounds.
A man then entered her bedroom and sexually assaulted her.
Following the ordeal, the woman called a neighbour who contacted the police.
She was transported to hospital in the company of a relative where she was medically examined.
The police say the man gained entry to the house by removing louvre blades from a rear window.
