Everald Warmington has been appointed as a nominated commissioner on the Electoral Commission of Jamaica effective February 1.
Mr. Warmington succeeds Senator Tom Tavares-Finson, who retired from the Commission on January 31.
He joins the other Nominated Commissioner representing the Prime Minister, Dr. Aundre Franklin.
Mr. Warmington is currently Member of Parliament for St. Catherine South Western.
The Electoral Commission is comprised of nine members.
There are: four Selected (Independent) Commissioners, four Nominated Commissioners (two representing the Prime Minister and two representing the Leader of the Opposition) and the Director of Elections.
Those representing the Opposition Leader are Dr. Dayton Campbell and Maureen Webber.
