CEO of Cricket West Indies (CWI), Chris Dehring has dismissed suggestions that the Caribbean side's departure from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 could hinge on the outcome of Thursday's second semi-final between England and India.
His comments come against the backdrop of significant travel disruptions, as airspace closures across parts of the Middle East, triggered by ongoing military tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran, have forced several commercial airlines to reroute or cancel flights.
The situation has delayed the West Indies team's departure from India, following their exit from the tournament on Sunday.
Amid the uncertainty, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has proposed a chartered flight to the United Kingdom as part of contingency travel arrangements.
