The father of the Clarendon woman whose body was found in a pit at Milk River on Sunday afternoon is accusing the police of dragging their feet in catching the alleged suspect behind her killing.

The deceased, Derricka Rogers, otherwise called 'Muffy', from Gravel Hill in Clarendon, was last seen on May 27.

Her father, Derrick Rogers, said he got information on the whereabouts of the alleged killer and reported it to the police. But he said officers did not move quickly enough to apprehend the suspect.

"[I] made a report, and mi a tell di police dem what happen, what mi hear. And mi turn to the police and mi seh 'Mi hear that Oily down di road a have a drink, so mek wi guh pick up di man.'"

But the father said the police discouraged him, saying they could not go to pick up the suspect because there was no certainty that the man had hurt his daughter.

Mr. Rogers said he reminded the cops that they had up to 72 hours in which to hold and question someone without charge.

"Dem seh mi cyah do that because remember is a married man. But as mi seh, if di police dem did just move wid me at the time, di yute wouldn't lef di scene. Him wouldn't lef fi gah foreign. So dem woulda question him and dem woulda find out what happen from deh suh," he lamented.

The police have said their investigation into the matter continues.
