Female thieves rob supermarkets of Easter Buns

The five persons who were held on Thursday in connection with robberies at two supermarkets in Junction, St. Elizabeth have not yet been charged.

The police say this is due to insufficient evidence.

They are still in the process of collecting statements from operators of other business establishments who also had items stolen.

The five, four women and a man, were picked up in Black River by the police after it was reported that they were involved in shoplifting activities in Junction and Mandeville in Manchester.

The Toyota motorcar in which they were travelling was stopped and searched and liquor, tins of cheese, buns and other goods were allegedly found.

The police suspect the car was stolen.

It is understood that some of the women are wanted in St. Elizabeth for similar crimes committed in the parish last year.

The Junction Police are asking business owners in Mandeviille to contact them as some of the goods are still unidentified.
