Final report on AA crash completed

Nearly three years after an American Airlines aircraft overshot the runaway at the Norman Manley International Airport local aviation investigators are now in the process of presenting a final report on what led to the incident.

The December 2009 crash left several passengers injured.

Director General of the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority, Lieutenant Colonel Oscar Derby, told the RJR News Centre Thursday that the report is currently being vetted.

However, Colonel Darby said the findings will not be made public until early in 2013.

A draft report, which was completed last December, was circulated to all the interested parties both local and international.

The responses to the report were received in April.

Flight 331 was en route from Miami to Kingston in stormy weather on December 22, 2009, when it overshot the runway and landed on a beach near the Palisadoes Road.

The plane broke in two on impact resulting in nearly 100 passengers being injured.
