Five arrested in St. Elizabeth police operations

A series of police operations in hotspots and town centres across St. Elizabeth has resulted in the arrest of five people after they were found in possession of illegal items.

 

A firearm and ammunition were among the items seized.

 

The operations were carried out on Wednesday into Thursday morning.

 

Superintendent Coleridge Minto, Commanding Officer for the St. Elizabeth Police Division, said the first two arrests were made in the Santa Cruz town centre. They were charged for being in possession of offensive weapon as well as possession of crack. The other suspects were picked up during an operation in Stephen's Run, Nain, early Thursday morning. 

 

"[The police] signalled a Honda Grace motor car to stop. The driver complied. During a search of the vehicle, a black 9mm pistol contaiing four live rounds was seized. The three men that were travelling in the vehicle were arrested and the motor vehicle seized. The investigations are ongoing at this time," said Superintendent Minto.
