Former Kool FM broadcaster to stand trial today

Wayne W. Whyte, Former Kool FM disc jockey and broadcaster, is scheduled to stand trial Monday for the attempted murder of his co-worker, Jody Ann Gray.

The trial will be heard in the Gun Court.

Mr. Whyte, who has been in custody since April last year, is charged jointly with Safari Farr.

Both men are also facing charges of wounding with intent, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition, after Ms. Gray was shot at her Cedar Grove home in Portmore on April 4.

She was seven months pregnant at the time of the attack.

The police reported Ms Gray was about to get out of her motor car when she was pounced on by a man, who shot her in the face and arm.

The man then jumped into a waiting Toyota Corolla motor car, which was allegedly being driven by Mr. Whyte.

However, the car was intercepted by a police patrol team with the men aboard.

A third man in the vehicle will be used by the State as the key prosecution witness.

The broadcaster remains in custody after several applications for bail were denied by the court.
