Former NYS Executive Director to speak on dismissal

Former Executive Director of the National Youth Service (NYS) Reverend Adinhair Jones is to break his silence on Wednesday on his sudden departure from the state run agency nearly three weeks ago.

Reverend Jones has called a press conference for Wednesday morning in the wake of allegations that politics was behind him, along with two senior officers, being dismissed.

Reverend Jones, the Director of Finance and a Human Resource Executive were sent home following an alleged procedural breach at the NYS.

But sources said politics was at the heart of the matter.

Opposition Spokesman on Education Senator Basil Waite had described the situation as shady.

Reverend Jones and the two NYS executives were accused of violating the process by which contracts are issued by state-agencies.

There were claims that Reverend Jones signed off on a transportation contract which was granted to a well known People's National Party activist without following proper procedure.

The contract was reportedly put to tender, but Reverend Jones did not get all the requisite signatures when signing off on the bid.
