Former Senator and Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Noel Monteith is dead.
Monteith who was 71, died on Wednesday in a hospital in Canada, after battling cancer for two and a half years.
During his political life, the former People's National Party's (PNP)Senator served as Vice Chairman of the Eastern Westmoreland constituency for 20 years and another 5 years as Chairman.
Monteith who was the first principal ofthe Maude McLeod High school also served as principal of Cornwall College and the GC Foster College.
He is survived by his widow, Audrey and three children.
