The local sporting fraternity is in mourning following the murder of national cricket administrator and Vice President of GC Foster College, Gibbs Williams.

The 55-year-old was killed outside a medical facility in Portmore, St. Catherine on Friday morning. He was pronounced dead at Spanish Town Hospital.

Reports are that sometime after 11 o'clock, Mr. Williams was in the car park when he was attacked and shot. He ran inside the medical facility where he collapsed.

Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, head of the St. Catherine South Police, said investigators are following strong leads and have ruled out robbery as the motive.

He said the police are hoping to access footage from surveillance cameras in the area as part of their investigations.

But SSP Phillips also urged anyone who may have seen anything or have any information on the murder to contact the police.

Mr. Williams was also the physical trainer for the national cricket team and manager of the West Indies U-19 team.
