The Jamaican government is to consider the possibility of providing Tanzanian schools with teachers. According to a statement issued Tuesday by the Presidential Directorate of Communications in Tanzania, an agreement has been reached with Jamaica.
The agreement between Tanzania and Jamaica emerged from a meeting on Sunday involving President Jakaya Kikwete and Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia during the celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of the African Union. The statement says the two leaders agreed that Jamaica will look at the possibility of helping Tanzania with teachers to teach mathematics and science subjects.
The two countries have also pledged to strengthen bilateral relations. This paves the way for Tanzania to open a representative mission in Jamaica in another two years.
