The police were called to the Mall Plaza
in St. Andrew where gunmen carried out a daring robbery on Saturday morning.
It is reported that about 10:30 Saturday morning, two men entered the Touch of Gold Jewellery Store and held employees and store security officers at gunpoint.
The men stole a quantity of jewelry and cash from the store.
The value of the items stolen has not yet been ascertained.
Our news centre was told that while the robbers were still in the store, a security response team employed by the store owners responded to an alarm.
One of the security officers wrestled with one of the gunmen and managed to disarm him, however the robbers managed to escape with the gun owned by the store's security guard in a waiting white Toyota Corolla.
