Guyana closes international airports

Guyana on Tuesday announced the closure of its international airports as it deals with the impact of the coronavirus.
 
Egbert Field, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, told a news conference that the Cheddi Jagan International Airport and the Eugene Correia Airport will be closed to all international flights for 14 days.
 
Mr. Field said the closures will take effect midnight Wednesday.
 
He said the only exceptions will be cargo flights, planes that have to make technical stops as well as special authorized flights.
