Haniyeh was reportedly killed in an air strike about 2 a.m. local time.

Hamas has blamed Israel, which is yet to respond but has previously vowed to eliminate Hamas's leaders.
Iran, the group's most important backer, has vowed to avenge Haniyeh's death.
It comes hours after Israel claimed it killed a senior Hezbollah commander in Lebanon.
The two attacks have raised fears of further regional conflict, and has thrown ceasefire talks between Hamas and Israel into doubt, as Haniyeh was a key figure in negotiations.
