The Ministry of Education has raised the income threshold for parents eligible to apply to the Own Your Own Device Incentive programme.
The programme is an initiative through which the Government is assisting with the purchase of tablet or laptop computers for students who are in need but not on the PATH programme.
It was previously open to parents earning up to $500,000 annually.
Education Minister Fayval Williams noted that, given all students will have return to virtual classes, the income threshold was raised to $1.5 million for parents eligible to apply for the $20,000 voucher to purchase a device.
The programme is intended to benefit 36,000 families.
Mrs Williams, who made the announcement at Sunday's media briefing at Jamaica House, said students on the PATH programme who would normally be provided with lunches, will still be supported even though they will be engaged in online classes.
She said the Education Ministry will partner with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security as well as the Ministry of Finance "to send the funds to parents at home so that they could provide for students."
