Plans have been unveiled for a major programme aimed at reducing fraud involving land titles.
The National Land Agency (NLA) is to introduce a property watch initiative.
This is one of several measures to reduce incidents of fraud at the Land Titles Division.
The service is expected to be fully operational by March 31 next year.
Minister of Land, Robert Pickersgill , told the House of Representatives yesterday that the service will provide a notice to land owners whenever any transaction is done on their titles.
He also noted that other initiatives, such as the search for certificates and access to survey records online, through eLandJamaica, have been implemented to improve customer service.
The Minister pointed out that the NLA commenced its Live Web Chat Support Service in March.
He said the service gives members of the public access to real-time text-based conversations with a Customer Service agent.
It also allows them to leave messages relating to all NLA issues outside of normal working hours.
