The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Disciplinary Commission has ruled that the Jamaican team is disqualified from the men’s 4x100m relay event in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
In addition, that the corresponding medals, medallist pins and diplomas are withdrawn and shall be returned.
The ruling follows Nesta Carter being found guilty of a doping offense. Carter, who competed in the men’s 4x100m relay event has been disqualified.
Re-analysis of Carter’s samples from Beijing 2008 resulted in a positive test for the prohibited substance methylhexaneamine.
The ruling means that Usain Bolt and the rest of the team, which included Michael Frater and Asafa Powell, have been stripped of their gold medal.
