State Minister for Local Government Robert Montaque is pointing to an improvement in the Jamaica Constabulary Force's effort to recover missing persons.
Mr. Montague says between June 1 and August 31 this year, 382 persons were reported missing.
Of this amount 247 were accounted.
One hundred and thirty-two persons are still unaccounted for, and three have been declared dead.
Mr. Montaque says since the launch of the Ananda Alert in May last year there has been a steady improvement, however more needs to be done.
“We were recovering around 10% to 15% of missing persons based on reports. We are now averaging 55%, that is still woefully inadequate and as we try to improve the system a gap assessment was done and it showed up a number of things,” Mr. Montague said.
