JCTU expects agreement on compensation implementation schedule today

JCTU President St. Patrice Ennis

The Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions says it is expecting an implementation schedule to be agreed today for outstanding matters under the public sector compensation agreement as public sector workers remain restive.

The Confederation, which has eleven unions under its umbrella, is scheduled to meet at 10:00 a.m., today with the Ministry of Finance after it issued a ten-day ultimatum on March 1 for the matters to be discussed.

Finance Minister Dr Nigel Clarke has said an agreement was reached on eight of nine items with the JCTU.

But JCTU President St Patrice Ennis, who has described today's meeting as crucial, says public sector workers have not been benefiting from those agreed items.
