JCTU joins call for withdrawal of Speaker's letter of reprimand to Clerk to the Houses Valrie Curtis

JCTU President St. Patrice Ennis

The Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions [JCTU] has added its voice to the call for House Speaker Juliet Holness to withdraw the letter reprimanding former Clerk of the Houses of Parliament Valrie Curtis.

The letter cited Ms Curtis for gross dereliction of duty for failing to carry out the directives of the House Speaker in relation to reports sent to Gordon House by the Auditor General

The JCTU issued a statement on behalf of its 12 member unions, calling for the letter to be rescinded and a formal apology issued.

JCTU President St Patrice Ennis, in a follow-up interview, said the letter issued is not merely a letter of reprimand but rather one that would have warranted dismissal.

Accordingly, he believes it is absolutely necessary that Ms Curtis' reputation remains unblemished, with its removal.
