Jimmy Cliff takes home the Grammy!

Jimmy Cliff took home the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album Sunday night for his latest work, ‘Rebirth’. 

The 65-year-old reggae legend topped a competitive field.

They included ‘Miracle’ by The Original Wailers; ‘Tomahawk Technique’ by Sean Paul; ‘New Legend — Jamaica 50th Edition’ by Sly & Robbie & The Jam Masters; and ‘Reggae Got Soul: Unplugged on Strawberry Hill’ by Toots and The Maytals. 

The victory came 28 years after Jimmy Cliff's first Grammy win in 1985 for “Cliff Hanger”. 

Cliff was one of the highlight’s of Volkswagen America’s Jamaican-accented Super Bowl ad, which aired last Sunday night and went viral on YouTube. 

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards also set aside time for a moving tribute to late reggae legend Bob Marley by Barbados native Rihanna.  

Last year’s Reggae Album winner was Stephen Marley, who took home the award for his ‘Revelation Part 1:The Root of Life’.
