The Jamaica Public Service Company's Board of Directors has announced a Hurricane Beryl Relief Programme.
In a release on Tuesday, JPS Chairman and Acting President & CEO Damian Obiglio said the JPS regrets the recent billing experience.
The relief programme includes discounts to approximately 350,000 JPS residential customers.
The company will be giving a 20 per cent discount off the bills of customers who use 150 kWh of electricity or less for the month.
This discount will be applied to current charges and will be reflected on bills that customers will start receiving in August. Active prepaid residential customers will get a one-off $1,500 top-up electricity credit on their accounts.
The utility company on Friday said some customers would receive estimated bills for the June to July period as Beryl has impacted its ability to deliver actual readings.
Despite criticism from the government, parliamentary opposition and customers, the company followed through on the notice, sending estimated bills to some customers.
The JPS said, however, that most customers would receive bills based on actual meter readings.
