The Government of Guyana has announced that search and recovery operations following last month's MV Barima tragedy have officially ended.
Seventy-three deaths have been confirmed from the disaster, while more than 30 others remain missing and are presumed dead.
In a brief statement on Monday, the Office of the Prime Minister said the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre remains operational.
The government also noted that there has been no change in the status of identifying the bodies recovered from the incident.
The Ministry of Health is still seeking the public's help in identifying the remains of five persons who died in the tragedy.
On Monday, a magistrate adjourned to September 7, the court case in which three persons, including the captain of the ill-fated MV Barima, have been charged with murder after the 87 year-old vessel sank.
