JPS customers to see marginal increase on bills

Customers of the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) will see a marginal increase in electricity bills generated after August 9.

The increase follows the Office of Utilities Regulation's review of the 2023 JPS Annual Tariff Adjustment submission.

The OUR approved a 5.5% increase on JPS's 2022 approved Non-fuel Revenue Target. This will result in an average bill increase of approximately 1.6%.

The OUR said the JPS in its application had requested, among other things, an overall non-fuel tariff adjustment of 13.2% and an annual revenue target for this year of $55.1 billion.

In its decisions, which became effective on August 9, the OUR has approved a revenue target of $50.8 billion or $4.3 billion less than what was proposed by JPS.
