The management of the West Street branch of Juici Patties in downtown Kingston is contemplating disciplinary action against staff members who may have breached protocol before a robbery there on the weekend.
The police reported that on Saturday evening, two men, one armed with a gun, went into the fast food outlet and robbed a staff member of $1,500 and a cellular phone.
Other staff members reportedly locked themselves in secure rooms before calling the police.
It was thought the robbers were still inside the building when the police arrived, but it seems they had already escaped.
Laurence Heffes, Manager of the branch, says he is satisfied with the action of the police and his private security personnel.
However, he disclosed that the robbers may have walked through a delivery door that was left open.
He said while he is thankful none of his staff members was harmed, he is reviewing the incident and not ruling out taking some action where necessary.
“Our team members need to review that … it’s their safety and they need to really realise that following the proper procedures is important. The team members made that error and a number of them experienced some trauma from it.
“We’re going to look at this further because if something of that nature has affected the staff this way, then we have to look at it,” Mr. Heffes said on RJR’s daily current affairs discussion programme Beyond The Headlines Monday evening.
