JUTA questions its absence from JTB

The Jamaica Union of Travellers Association (JUTA) is questioning its non-representation on the new board of directors of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB).

Tourism Minister, Dr. Wykeham McNeill, recently appointed a 10-member board under the chairmanship of Dennis Morrison.

Speaking with RJR News, Wednesday, former National President of JUTA, Glen Bromfield, said JUTA is a secure organisation with over 30 years of tourism-related experience and a strong presence islandwide.

He says the association represents the people, and has the capacity to represent Jamaica well, on the JTB board:

And current Island President, Garfield Williamson, says the organisation has, over many years, made representation to successive governments for inclusion on the JTB board:

Meanwhile, efforts to get a response from Dr. McNeill were unsuccessful, up to news time.

When contacted, Opposition Spokesperson on Tourism, Ed Bartlett, said he would reserve comment at this time.
