The Old Bailey Criminal Court in England has
heard of a confession by Femi Forde, 24, who is on trial for killing Wayne
Freckleton, 25, who is of Jamaican parentage.
Mr. Freckleton was shot dead in broad daylight in April, 2008 in North London, in what prosecutors say was a revenge killing.
He was waiting for a haircut in a barber shop when he was shot in the head by a masked gunman posing as customer.
At the earlier trial this week, the court heard that Forde of Harlesden confessed that he and another man committed the crime.
In the confession Forde reportedly said he heard that Mr. Freckleton was in the barber shop and he did not want to miss his chance.
One witness, who gave evidence from behind a screen, told the court that he was sitting on a wall outside the shop and could sense something was about to happen when he saw two suspicious men passing him.
He said one man had his hands in his pockets and the second one had his hands in his waist.
He also said that the shorter of the two pushed the door of the barber shop open and went in with his accomplice behind him.
Minutes later the witness said he heard shots being fired as patrons fled the shop.
The prosecution alleges that Mr. Freckleton's killing was in revenge for a double killing at the Tudor Rose Nightclub in South London in 2002.
Mr. Freckleton was wanted in connection with that murder.
Forde along with Richard Osborne, 28, 18-year-old Antoine Richards, 19-year-old Marcus Siyum from North London addresses are on trial for the murder.
They all deny the charges.
A fifth man, Jamal Smith, 27, of Essex is also on trial on two counts of assisting an offender.
He also denies the charge.
The trial continues next week.
